This week on DANCE BEHIND THE SCREEN PODCAST…

[0:30] Azaria and Reyna

QUESTIONS WITH PALOMA MCGREGOR

[1:27] Azaria asks: “How have you been holding up?”

[4:10] Azaria asks: “One thing I appreciated that you emailed to us is that you needed to do some deep listening. In the long goal how do I help move us forward? I appreciate that the sense of deep listening is necessary.”

[8:35] Azaria asks: “For Angela's Pulse and Dancing While Black: What is some of the work you all are doing? How can the dance community turn towards the work you are doing already?”

[15:01] Azaria asks: “I think even for the black community it is so internalized. There has been so much tokenism that it’s like just realizing to check it within ourselves.”

[23:40] Reyna asks: “I’m interested to hear how you were able to work through that as a young adult wanting to go to New York then realizing ‘I can do much more than this’ for your culture and your heritage.”

[29:31] Reyna asks: “Do you have any advice to these companies who truly do want to change and be more inclusive? Who are putting out statements about change and since you have been doing this work, and we don’t have to start from scratch, what advice do you have for those companies who are saying they want to be in solidarity with black lives?”

[35:42] Reyna asks: “If you had any advice to give to the black young dance community what would it be?”

[32:29] Reyna asks:

1- If you had to recommend a resource to our audience what would it be?

2- What was the first dance you saw?

  • “Seeing Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater at Island Center”

3- Do you think social media has a positive influence on the dance world (yes or no)?

  • “Yes or No”

4- What is your favorite social media platform?

  • The Front Porch
